The movie is based on the 2017 non-fiction book of the same name written by David Grann. It’s set in the 1920s and revolves around members of the Osage tribe, found in northeastern Oklahoma, being murdered under mysterious circumstances. This, in turn, sparks a major investigation directed by then 29 year old J. Edgar Hoover and former Texas Ranger Tom White.

Killers of the Flower Moon is directed by Martin Scorsese from a screenplay he wrote with Eric Roth and Scorsese. The film was produced by Apple Studios, Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, and Appian Way Productions and is being distributed by Apple Original Films and Paramount Pictures. Robert De Niro as William King Hale

Hale is a political boss of Osage County, Oklahoma. His role in the killings is central to the story as his actions cause him to proclaim himself as “King of the Osage. This is because he owned a controlling interest in the county’s bank and partial interest in the town’s general store and funeral home. This portrayal marks Robert De Niro’s tenth feature with Scorsese.

Where have you seen him before?: A film legend in his own right, De Niro came up during 1970s Hollywood and starred in films such as Mean Streets (1973), Taxi Driver (1976), The Godfather Part II, GoodFellas, A Bronx Tale, and more. He has also been seen in comedies such as the Meet the Parents franchise, The Intern (2015), and most recently, About My Father (2023).

Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Burkhart

Earnest is Hale’s nephew, who, at the behest of his uncle, marries Mollie Burkhart (née Kyle) in order to gain control of her family’s rights. This marks the sixth feature film collaboration between Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Where have you seen him before?: DiCaprio is best known for his leading roles in films such Titanic (1997), The Great Gatsby (2013), The Wolf of Wall Street  (2013), and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (2019). He was most recently seen in the Netflix film Don’t Look Up (2021).

Lily Gladstone as Mollie Burkhart

Lily Gladstone portrays Mollie, a member of the Osage tribe who soon becomes a “marked woman” and is embroiled in an evil conspiracy to strip away her oil-rich family’s wealth. In real life, Gladstone is of Blackfeet and NiMíiPuu heritage and grew up on the reservation of the Blackfeet Nation.

Where have you seen her before?: Gladstone has appeared in episodes of HBO’s Room 104, Showtime’s Billions, and FX’s Reservation Dogs. Her film debut was in Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian (2012). She was last seen in The Last Manhunt (2022) and Fancy Dance, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
