Well, it looks like The Bold and the Beautiful is going to be keeping the drama on the runway instead of closing their fashion showdown out with a medical emergency. This, however, doesn’t mean the Forresters aren’t going to be rocked by the news of Eric’s supposed pending demise.
The salon they held ended with both Eric and Ridge receiving applause for their stunning showings. With the event drawn to a close, Carter was left to tabulate the orders to see whose designs left the greatest impression. Ridge was sure it was going to be his. So much so that he fielded a question from a member of the press on the phone where he stated the fashion firm has a “cutting edge” future.
Ridge has been transparent about his view that his father is too traditional and classic in his design aesthetic to push Forrester forward. Judging by Carter’s face, he wasn’t feeling his best friend’s arrogance. Ridge thinks he has the showdown in the bag and, personally, I hope that he gets a big helping of egg on his face. Eric’s gowns were better in my opinion and proved that he’s the master. Carter did say only one of the collections sold out, fingers crossed it was Eric’s.
What happened today on The Bold and the Beautiful?
I also hope that Ridge is told the news of who won before he’s informed about his dad’s health condition. Brooke, who has never been one to let something go when she doesn’t know something that someone else does, decided to go talk to her son, RJ, since she wasn’t getting any information from her sisters, Donna and Katie.
Brooke caught RJ and Luna in an embrace in the design office. The young couple jumped apart though their hug was innocent. Brooke, amused, settled her son’s nerves. She spoke on how Luna seemed to be a sweet young lady and RJ said she’s been there for him. It’s obvious to Brooke that the two care about each other so she’s happy for them both.
But, once that was out the way, she pressed about what exactly is going on with Eric. RJ, who has been wanting to share with his parents since he found out his grandfather is sick, opened up to her about his struggle. Then he told Brooke that Eric is dying which, of course, was shocking news to her and she’s certainly not going to sit on it.
As this conversation was happening, Eric was taking in the fashion salon space and reminiscing about seeing his gowns walk down the runway. That’s where Donna found him and he insisted that he needed to win the showdown, that he needs to have control of the company over Ridge. This very much feels like Eric grasping at power because he feels helpless in his personal life. Hopefully that’s addressed as his family learns about his condition.
The C plot of this episode centered on Esther. She finally got the Forrester original of her dreams, beating out Marie Osmond’s snooty and rude Countess of Frankfurt. The Countess referred to Esther as a simpleton and demanded that Ridge sell the gown to her, but he said Esther put her order in first, so it would go to her. Leaving in a huff, the noble announced she wouldn’t be buying another Forrester original ever again, but she surely won’t be missed.
Esther also shared a passionate kiss with Charlie that left her so dazed she almost left her gown behind. For fans of Pam and Charlie’s relationship, this came as a surprise, but the soap does love to play with different relationship dynamics without much explanation when one half of the pair has been off the program for awhile.
Don’t be too surprised if Alley Mills makes her way back to The Bold and the Beautiful to reprise the role of Pam Douglas and this moment between Charlie and Esther is never mentioned again.
Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
