“False Promises” – A massive tree falls during a reforestation assignment, threatening Eve’s life and forcing Bode to step up and lead the rescue efforts, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, March 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Fire Country season 2 doesn’t premiere until Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to glean about the show’s highly anticipated sophomore run ahead of its debut.

When showrunner Tia Napolitano teased that the goal for the premiere was to have the audience “gasp and be shocked,” I didn’t anticipate that her statement would mean they’d be laying the groundwork in the title for season 2, episode 1. Sure, on it’s own “Something’s Coming” doesn’t exactly inspire goosebumps or the heebie jeebies but paired with Napolitano’s full quote, I’m shook.

"“My goal is to, the first time we see each and every character, the audience will gasp and be shocked, everyone’s story will be very, very surprising from the moment you see them.”"

To remind you, Fire Country‘s season 1 finale ended tense. Bode went back to prison when he was manipulated into lying about dealing drugs out of Three Rock Fire Camp so Freddie’s case wouldn’t get tied up in red tape. He pushed Gabriela away emotionally, leaving them both heartbroken. Sharon and Vince did not agree on next steps regarding Bode, which flipped the script on their dynamic in terms of their son. And Cara revealed to Jake that her preteen daughter Genevieve, who’s under the impression that they’re sisters, could be Bode’s child.

I think we all needed season 2 immediately after those narrative twists and turns. We didn’t get the new season in the fall as expected because the WGA and SAG-AFTRA were fighting for a fair agreement with the studios, represented by the AMPTP, and the industry ground to a near halt. Now that the strikes are over, show’s are going back into production and stars are beginning to share tidbits about the upcoming seasons on their socials.

Jordan Calloway did just that by posting the front page of his season 2 premiere script to his Instagram. His reaction?: “Awwwww 💩!!!!! Just finished reading and 👀 … this season bout to be crazy. Let’s Go!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”

Honestly, not to rush the holidays, but Feb. 16 can’t get here fast enough! I don’t know what “Something’s Coming” could be referring to but it’s either a literal natural disaster or an emotional one. Buckle up, Fire Country fans, we’re in for a ride!
