2) He’s The Most Loyal BFF

Simon is arguably the most loyal character in the Shadowhunters series. From the very first episode, Simon — though reasonably skeptical — trusted Clary and followed her into this completely hidden world.

Despite all kinds of crazy new people and information thrown at him, Simon’s number one priority was always to keep Clary protected and to defend her on her quest to find Jocelyn. In brief, Simon was kidnapped, held hostage, bitten, buried, and turned, all because of Clary and the Shadow World. Yet, his loyalty to Clary and her new “family” continued.

We know, we know… he was pretty much just trying to get out of the friend-zone, but we’d like to think that Simon would have stayed by Clary’s side regardless. In Season 2, not only is Simon still loyal to Clary, but he also continues to have the best ethics in the series, wanting to always do what’s right to protect those that he loves, even when he’s physically incapable of being with them.

For someone who’s navigating what it means to be a Downworlder, he has a unique commitment to his mundane, Shadowhunter, and Downworlder families.

And at the end of Season 2, Episode 4, Simon gave us all the feels when he pushed past Jace and ran to Clary after she killed the demon that murdered her mother. Simon had no idea what had happened to Jocelyn, but after one look at Clary, he knew he needed to be there for his best friend.
