Emmy experts are picking Chrissy Metz to win Best Drama Supporting Actress for her breakout work as Kate Pearson on This Is Us.

Chrissy Metz plays Kate Pearson, sister to Randall and twin to Kevin, in the present-day storyline on This Is Us. Over the course of the first season, she’s done incredible work, portraying the ups, downs and nuances of her codependent relationship with Kevin, her complicated history with mom Rebecca and her evolving romance with Toby. Now, it appears she may be getting major recognition for that work in Emmy hardware form.

Gold Derby, an entertainment awards site, recently released their experts’ pick for the Emmy for Best Drama Supporting Actress. Though the nominations are not out yet, Chrissy Metz overwhelmingly received the greatest number of picks to win.

Gold Derby polled 16 TV journalists “from top media outlets” which resulted in eight votes for Chrissy Metz as Kate. The closest runner-ups were three picks for Thandie Newton for her work as Maeve, a brothel madam, on HBO’s Westworld and two for Millie Bobby Brown for Eleven on Netflix’s summer hit, Stranger Things. Two more picked Vera Farmiga on Bates Motel and a sole journalist picked Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul.

The competition from those women is steep; all have given phenomenal performances this year and even those not picked by the experts to win (but picked to receive nominations) would be worthy winners. Uzo Aduba, Winona Ryder and Margo Martindale are all expected to receive nominations as well for their work on Orange is the New Black, Strangers Things and The Americans, respectively.

Still, eight journalists picking Metz is considerably more than any of the other predictions. Gold Derby will also announce predictions from the site’s editors, the Top 24 Users and all site Users.

Metz has spoken considerably about how her life has changed due to the show and her newfound fame. Here’s hoping she gets to mark the experience with an Emmy win.
