This Is Us’ Mandy Moore isn’t ready to be a mom, or maybe she is, she’s thinking about it

Maybe stop asking the actress who plays Rebecca Pearson — mom to the Big Three — on This Is Us quite so much about motherhood.

Playing Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us has made Mandy Moore want to be a mom. Or maybe it hasn’t. Or maybe she’s just starting to consider it? For whatever reason, the question of Mandy Moore’s impending motherhood has been a staple of the This Is Us Emmys circuit as well as the actress’ promotion for her summer shark movie, 47 Feet Down.

The saga of contradictory answers — which to be fair, is totally fair, maybe she’s just working out her feelings on a pretty serious decision through interview answers — begins in an E! News interview at the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Asked if playing Rebecca had given her “any brooding feelings,” she answered:

"Sure, but I think that’s probably just in line with where I am in my life right now. The chapters have sort of lined up pretty perfectly."

But when E! News subsequently asked Milo Ventimiglia, her onscreen husband and co-parent, he seemed to think Mandy was just messing with the outlet. Saying:

"I think Mandy might have been bullsh*tting you. Mandy and I have been on set before with kids that are having a hard time that day, or babies with crap-filled diapers and I’m like, ‘Yo, man. How are you doing?’ And she’s like, ‘I’m good. I don’t need any kids.’"

Apparently, all this talk has really made an impact though, as Mandy subsequently told the Los Angeles Times that:

"Playing a mother also has her feeling a tug toward parenthood. “I am ready to have a family,” she says. “it’s definitely something that’s been really on my mind lately.”"

Of course, it’s possible that it’s been on her mind so much lately because interviewers keep asking her about it. So, maybe we all just stop bugging her and enjoy the triumph that is Rebecca Pearson, extremely relatable mom extraordinaire onscreen.
