Ron Howard is directing a Star Wars movie but Justin Hartley thinks that shouldn’t be above appearing on a hit NBC television show.

Whatever Ron Howard touches seems to always turn to gold — sometimes even Oscar gold. That’s what the folks at Disney and Lucasfilm are hoping, since the hired Howard to replace the recently fired Phil Lord and Chris Miller on the Han Solo spinoff film.

What does this all have to do with This Is Us?

Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin Pearson on the show, doesn’t want a galaxy far, far away to take Howard away from the show. The director had a came in the first season of the show — a rare return to his first entertainment home — and Hartley wants more.

“Hopefully he’s not too bogged with [the Han Solo film] and he can come down to do some more,” the actor said in a recent interview.

According to Hartley, Howard’s presence might have been more meaningful than his cameo on the show. The impact the director had on the cast and crew seems to have carried over into the second season’s production.

"“I just wanted to be in the room when I heard Ron Howard say how great I was,” Hartley admitted. “I just wanted the words to come out of his mouth. And then they put me in another room on the phone call, so I was never even in the room with him. But I did hear it over the phone. In my own head, I was like, that’s Ron’s voice telling me. It was definitely a highlight for me.”"

Howard returning to the show is certainly not out of the question. He may be tied up with the Han Solo film for now, but neither he nor This Is Us will be going anywhere anytime soon.
