Season 1

The first season of Curb was just starting to find its legs as the powerhouse comedy it would eventually become. The stage was set as Larry’s wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) struggled to live with her difficult husband and his oddball ways. We were introduced to Larry’s inner circle of friends including his agent Jeff (Jeff Garlin), Jeff’s shrill and uncompromising wife Susie (Susie Essman) and Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen (Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, duh). Seinfeld alum Julia Louis Dreyfus even made an appearance as a harried acquaintance who agrees to do Larry a favor with frustrating results.

While few of the Season 1 episodes contain those signature cringeworthy moments that made Curb so iconic, Larry’s exaggerated alter ego was fully formed right out of the gate, and the premise was there. Another show about nothing, but in L.A.
