#14 “How Far I’ll Go,” Moana

Sung By: Auli’i Cravalho

I Can See What’s Happening: Tired of conforming to the norms of society and avoiding her destiny, young Moana has an ah-ha moment which sets her on the path to achieving her disunity.

Favorite Line: “I can lead with pride, I can make us strong”

Why It’s Part of Our World: Who doesn’t love a good empowering anthem? In addition to featuring an incredible vocal performance from the star of Moana, “How Far I’ll Go” reminds listeners of all ages to never give up on your dreams because you never know how far you’ll go if you just take the leap and go for what you want.

#13 “Friend in Me,” Toy Story

Sung By: Randy Newman

I Can See What’s Happening: Andy is rounding up his toys for play time. Woody, a cowboy figure, is Andy’s obvious favorite and hero of his play time stories. It’s a sweet scene and takes us back to when we were children playing with our toys.

Favorite Line: “When the road looks rough ahead and you’re miles and miles from your nice warm bed, you just remember what you old pal said, boy you got a friend in me.”

Why It’s Part of Our World: Even though, aside from children who watch this movie, we no longer play with action figures or cars, this song is relatable thanks to its thoughtful lyrics. We are reminded of dear friends and relationships we hold dear.
