#26 “Zero to Hero,” Hercules

Sung By: Lillias White, Roz Ryan, and Cheryl Freeman

I Can See What’s Happening: After taking down the three headed dragon, Hercules begins to climb the ladder of success and is loved by the town. Hercules literally went from being a nobody to a brave hero. And, as the song suggests, he remained humble and the sweetest guy. What’s not to love?

Favorite Line: “Say amen! There he goes again, sweet and undefeated and an awesome ten for ten.”

Why It’s Part of Our World: Not only is the song incredibly catchy, but it highlights Hercules’ early journey to becoming a hero.

#25 “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” Mary Poppins

Sung By: Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke

I Can See What’s Happening: After her horse picks up a victory, nanny Mary Poppins and her friends celebrate by breaking out into song with some help from their special word, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Favorite Line: “So when the cat has got your tongue, There’s no need for dismay, Just summon up this word, And then you’ve got a lot to say.”

Why It’s Part of Our World: Few words are quite as iconic as Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and it seems only fitting that the song which introduced the word is just as whimsical and joyful as the word itself.
