Sterling K. Brown talks about how This Is Us home birth hit close to him for him

Sterling K. Brown is speaking out about how the home birth on This Is Us hit really close to him due to going through something similar with his own child. 

Last week on the new episode of This Is Us, Beth went into labor before they had a chance to make it to the hospital. 9 News shared that Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall, is now speaking out about how this hit close to home for him.

Sterling and his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe talked about it all to ET’s Ashley Crossan at the inaugural IndieWire Honors on Thursday night. Sterling explained it.

"“Six plus years ago, we had our first child, Andrew Jason Sterling Brown — love you buddy — at home in our bedroom. Not intentionally!"

His wife Ryan Bathe went on to explain more details.

"“We were going to go to this birthing center — it was this beautiful birthing center that we were going to go to, very civilized — and that went out the window at, like,11 o’clock in the evening.”"

After that, Sterling went on to explain more details about the birth. The contractions started at 11 p.m., and their son Andrew was born at 2:23 a.m., so it wasn’t a very long labor at all. As Sterling explained, it isn’t usually that easy the first time.

It is kind of crazy how it ended up on the show. This Is Us show creator, Dan Fogelman, had heard Sterling talk about his experience and decided that they had to put it on the show. They decided to work it into the show and it worked out great.
