When does Will & Grace season 9 return to NBC after the Winter Olympics? Better yet, will we finally get an uninterrupted run of new episodes?

More from NBC

As Karen would say, “Honey, what’s going on? What’s happening? What’s that?” That, Will & Grace fans, is the sound of another month-long hiatus. We can’t seem to catch a scheduling break, even though — let’s be honest — we have endured much worse, right? A decade off the air and just as long without online streaming? We can handle one month. But when do new episodes return?

Due to the Winter Olympics airing on NBC, Will & Grace and its Thursday night counterparts will break until March 1, when they will return with brand new episodes for an unspecified amount of time. However, Will & Grace has only five episodes remaining in its 16-episode ninth season order, meaning we’re quickly approaching the season finale downswing. And the laugher appears to be gearing up for a big finish, if Thursday night’s middling but narrative pushing episode has anything to say about it. Will and Grace hit a career high, while Jack and Karen entertain the idea of ditching the personal lows.

Will and Grace push their line of bed linens on QVC, and even though it’s an unqualified disaster from the get due to Grace underperforming and Will overpreparing, the viewers love their passive aggressive banter. Hmmm, are we getting meta? Their product sells out, and they’re in business.

Meanwhile, Jack struggles with the concept of monogamy with Drew, his closeted, married boyfriend. When Karen outs Drew to his wife, there’s nothing but support and opportunity for he and Jack to be together. Jack almost gives in to “homo fomo,” but he instead gives love a chance. But is NBC giving Will & Grace a chance with these constant hiatuses?

Next: Does Will & Grace need all of these call backs and guest stars so soon?

Sure, the core four of Will & Grace appear to be on the up and up, but what about the series itself? NBC isn’t doing the revival any favors by stretching out the 16 episodes from September to (presumably) the end of March. Leaving the show off the air for lengthy gaps stifles the hype and momentum of the sitcom. The network can’t help the Olympics getting in the way, but they can give fans an uninterrupted run now that we have a return date.
