Felicia Day’s first appearance on The Magicians Season 3 coming tonight
If you’ve caught up with The Magicians just to be able to watch Felicia Day, this is the episode you’ll want to tune into live.
Out of all the episodes of The Magicians Season 3, this week’s episode is the big one. Supernatural’s Felicia Day will make her debut appearance as Poppy and the trailer sets her up to being integral for the plot. After Quentin tells her about the Quest for the Seven Keys, she shows him one around her neck. While it seems she has no idea what the key can do, she will find herself dragged into the quest.
Sera Gamble previously told Hidden Remote that Poppy is a character who looks out for herself. However, she finds herself with similar needs and wants as Quentin and that will pull the two of them together. This is going to be a very different character to Charlie on Supernatural, but she will still likely be one to root for. Plus, Gamble says that Day always has a sunny disposition and brings that to her characters.
Yes, this is the same Gamble as the woman behind Seasons 6 and 7 of Supernatural. Gamble was around for the first five years and attempted to keep some of the darkness and focus on creatures and monsters, with added suspense and foreshadowing. She certainly has a mind similar to Kripke’s and that’s been clear in The Magicians.
During the show’s hiatus, The Magicians shared that Day would appear as a recurring character. Of course, we all wanted to know more details but it was only last week that we learned from the trailer that she would make her debut performance.
Now there’s a sneak peek, which shows Poppy meeting Quentin for the first time. She needs to be rescued in the middle of one of Fillory’s oceans and instantly introduces herself. This leads to Quentin realizing that Poppy was a Brakebills student, but how has she made it to Fillory and how will she be the key to the current quest?

It looks like Poppy may be the key to saving magic and the world. If you’re a Day fan then you’ll definitely want to tune in tonight.
Felicia Day isn’t the first Supernatural actor to appear in The Magicians. Season 3 alone has had two other actors take on roles. The first was in the Season 3 premiere. Sean Owen Roberts, who played Chet/Leviathan in Supernatural took on the role of a vampire. Fans most recently spotted Julian Richings, best known as Death in the SPNFamily.
