Josh Dallas gets another show where time stands still with NBC pilot

A new mysterious pilot is coming to NBC and Once Upon a Time star Josh Dallas has landed a role.

As if one show where time temporarily stands still isn’t enough. Josh Dallas now has a second fantasy show with a similar situation to add to his resume. In his first role since leaving Once Upon a Time in 2017, Charming is returning to screens in a mysterious NBC pilot.

Dallas will play Ben Stone, an intelligence analyst and father of a boy with a rare illness. He’s on a plane that mysteriously goes missing, but reappears a year later. However, for Ben and the passengers on board time hasn’t moved. That shouldn’t be a difficult part for Dallas to play, since his role Charming had been stuck in the world of Storybrook for 28 years without ever aging.

Melissa Roxburgh is also joining the cast of the NBC pilot. Her addition to the new pilot heavily suggests that The CW’s Valor isn’t going to make it to a second season, just like many suspect. Roxburgh plays Thea on the military drama series, which just didn’t quite hit audience expectations in the way Mark Pedowitz and others at The CW hoped.

Hopefully, NBC will give the new series, called Manifest a chance. It will be interesting to see just how the plane has time traveled (if that’s what really happens). There are a few shows and movies that come to mind that Manifest can take some cues from, including LOST and the Stephen King adaptation, The Langoliers. NBC doesn’t have the best track record in recent years for new dramas.

Despite the new pilot, fans hope to see Dallas return to Once Upon a Time just for an episode or two. ABC announced that Season 7 would be the end, after a reboot attempt, but fans from the beginning would like to see the original cast back together in the series finale.
