The Hunger Games Parody

While The Hunger Games Parody certainly captured the character of Caeser Flickerman, it didn’t capture the movie. The parody focused on the showcase before the games, when Katniss was forced out of her nature to capture the heart of Panem.

This parody came after the Twilight series and The Vampire Diaries, and was the hottest movie for a parody at the time. They girls certainly attempted something different by focusing on Caesar, the eccentric host of the games, with his ever changing hair. But it was such a minor element of the movie to focus on compared to the actual games; the loss that Katniss went through and that iconic moment of volunteering as tribute. It actually felt more like a parody for America’s Next Top Model or The Selection than the novel-series-turned-movie-franchise.

It was also a shame that the costumes and showcase weren’t quite on point the way that previous parodies had been. This was the only parody of The Hunger Games series, suggesting that the sisters may not have been quite into it as much as others.

The Suicide Squad Parody

The Suicide Squad Parody came of the back of a string of excellent videos, so it always had a lot to live up to. Unfortunately, it just didn’t manage it. Maybe it was also due to the fact that it was based on a less than stellar movie. Just like the movie, the parody should have really been The Harley Quinn Parody, as it mostly focused on Harley and her obsession of the Joker.

The production quality was still just like the previous ones and there was an excellent use of song choice, creating something specific for the parody. When it came to the dancing and costumes, everything was on point. It is still easy to tell which parts of the movie the scenes were taken from, even for those who have only seen the movie the once.

One thing that The Suicide Parody had over The Hunger Games Parody was the ability to be entertained without knowing the movie. This was one of those videos that could be watched for pure entertainment value, helping to build the subscriber base up.
