Chicago Fire returned, bringing a conclusion to that nail-biting cliffhanger. Unfortunately, the show proved once more that big, dangerous decisions have absolutely no consequences.

It’s been a running theme with Chicago Fire Season 6. Big, dangerous, questionable decisions have absolutely no consequences. We last watched Severide and Casey jump off a five-story building into water below, in hope of surviving. While Casey came up alive, Severide was unconscious and things didn’t look great.

With Derek Haas hinting that Severide would have head problems, we’d hoped there would be some sort of consequence to this dangerous decision. While nobody wants to see Severide leave, just some sort of medical issue other than going through the concussion drill would have been something more exciting. Honestly, just like the Chicago Fire Season 6 premiere, this outcome was a little deflating and below expectations.

But enough with that. This is a Chicago Fire recap and it’s time to jump into the whole episode. I’ll do this a little different to normal and opt for a bullet-point layout to cover the major points of the episode.

Brett shows her Chicago side: Despite being a small-town girl, Brett has taken on a Chicago personality. When a regular shows up, she and Dawson realize that something is happening in his tent. They both pay a visit, where there’s a woman with a knife saying that it’s her house now. Brett isn’t going to let it go with a fight, and threatens with the whole of law enforcement to actually fight her if she continues.

All this is after Hope sent Brett an email to make amends, which Brett instantly deleted. Hope decides to air her dirty laundry on Facebook (with her side of the story), and Brett was initially going to ignore that. However, by the end, she decides to fight back.

Herrmann becomes a life coach: Herrmann is always looking for the next way to make money and this episode he’s offered the chance to become a life coach. He seems good at it when giving advice in the bar and encourages Lily to speak to her sister and move to Hawaii. In the end, Herrmann realizes his advice is bad (and the guy who recruited him suddenly wants $800) and he decides against becoming a life coach after all.

There’s a peeping Tom in the station: A photographer who captures an awesome picture of Severide and Casey jumping off the building is invited to photograph the Day in the Life of a Firefighter. Boden isn’t happy, but does allow it.

It turns out that the photojournalist is a peeping Tom. When Dawson is in the shower, he gets ready to snap photos of her. Luckily Casey found him and kicked him out. At the end, the guy isn’t happy that the firefighters have been smeering his name, so aggressively takes photos at a call. He ends up getting hit by a car (why weren’t there any police slowing the traffic at the site of a car accident, as would usually happen?) and Casey has to make the decision to run into traffic to save him.

Severide realizes what he wants: When Stella shares that she has a lead on an apartment, Severide is instantly disappointed. By the end of the episode, he realizes that he wants something just like Casey and Dawson. Can he get it with Stella?

Well, she’s currently still dating Zach and has agreed to meet Zach’s sister. However, it looks like there are some feelings and Stella does admit that Severide is extremely special to her.

Overall, it wasn’t the most exciting of episodes. Please can Chicago Fire get back on with saving people from fires on a weekly basis, instead of a lot of the drama back at the firehouse?
