Bob’s Burgers: Celebrating the Belcher ladies for Women’s History Month
Tina Belcher
The eldest of the Belcher children, Tina Belcher is one-of-a-kind. Unlike Linda, she shares very few similarities with other teenage cartoon characters. Looking at her cartoon peers of Lia Simpson and Meg Griffin, each has their own defining characteristics but Tina stands out from the pack.
Unlike Lisa, she isn’t known for being intelligent even though she ends up in remedial math with Jimmy Jr. Unlike Meg, she isn’t the butt of a joke but instead appreciated for who she is. She might be awkward, hormonal and at times, just plain weird. On Bob’s Burgers, she’s celebrated for that.

The show’s ability to embrace Tina and appreciate her is one of the reasons why she’s such a fan favorite. She shows off how much she loves boys, butts, zombies and horses instead of being ridiculed for it. As a character, she’s extremely confident and lacks social skills as most 13-year-olds do.
Tina is voiced by Dan Mintz who brings something extra to the role. Tina is celebrated for everything teenager girls should be and she never feels ashamed. In a world pitted against teenager girls and ready to criticize them, Tina is a small light of hope.
As the most popular character on the show, it’s obvious people relate to her. She’s a symbol for the awkward, quirky and hormonal teenage girl in all of us!
