Season 1: “Human Flesh”

Season 1 of Bob’s Burgers is an interesting one. While there aren’t any specific Bob and Linda-themed episodes, there are a handful of moments featuring the two. Personally, I think season 1 was a trial run for the show until they got their footing.

Obviously, the improvement since season 1 has been vast and impressive. Getting back to Bob and Linda, the best Bob and Linda comes in “Human Flesh.” While the episode is all about them proving they don’t serve human flesh, it’s also Bob and Linda’s anniversary.

The anniversary plot takes a backseat, but it comes up multiple times in the episode. From the infamous “9-3, 9 is divisible by 3” joke to Bob learning kissing techniques, it sets the precedent for the rest of the series. Bob and Linda love each other regardless of what happens with restaurant or how miserably they fail.

It’s a unique love, especially on animated TV shows. Rarely does a married cartoon couple show as much love and support for each as Bob and Linda do. Season 1 might not have started off excellent, but it gave us an idea. In a weird way, “Human Flesh” is as much about Bob and Linda’s relationship as it is about them possibly being cannibals.
