Season 8: “The Trouble with Doubles”

Before we get started, there will be spoilers from this week’s episode, “The Trouble with Doubles.” The episode begins with Linda setting up a double date with one of Gene’s classmate’s parents and they end up at a restaurant called Paprika and Pepper. It’s incredibly awkward between Bob, Linda and the other couple.

The other couple suggests dessert but sees an escape room on the way so they decide to go in together. The couples don’t get along after Linda sends a rude text about them and the other couple refuses to help. Bob and Linda try to figure it out before eventually the other couple gives in and agrees to help. The episode ends with them working together to get out of the room.

As the first Linda and Bob episode of season 8, there was a lot of pressure. The only thing I’d change would be a larger focus on Bob and Linda. Nevertheless, the takeaways from this episode are Bob and Linda should stick together as they can’t ever find couple friends. In addition, they’re still able to communicate and trust each other even in a high-pressure situation.

Overall, this was an interesting Bob and Linda-centric episode. Hopefully, the two are eventually able to find some couple friends though. As for a grade, I give “The Trouble With Doubles” a C as it wasn’t my favorite and there was room for improvement.

Tina is the focus of next week’s episode as far as I know but there will a plot with Bob and Linda. We’ll see how it holds up to this week’s episode.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 7:30/6:30c.
