#2. The Strain (FX)

If you want a series that is about a virus but not quite zombies, then The Strain is something you want to give a try. The FX series takes on the vampire genre with a virus storyline, opening with a plane full of people left dead from the virus.

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team at the New York-based section of the CDC need to figure out just what is going on and if there’s a cure before it’s too late. He’ll also need to work with a group of residents ready to wage war if they need to.

The Strain has now come to an end (it finished in September 2017), so you have four seasons to get through and know you’ll get a conclusion to the story. It’s not your typical vampire story.

#3. Money Heist (Atena 3)

This series may be a little harder to get your hands on, but it is going to be worth the search. It’s also known as La Casa de Papel in its native Spain. Yes, this is a foreign TV show but there are English subtitles to keep you on track with everything happening.

Unlike the previous two shows, this series doesn’t involve an end-of-the-world-creating virus. It’s about eight thieves who decide to lock themselves in the Spanish Mint with hostages, taking a heist storyline to the next level. Think of it as an Oceans 11 to the extreme.

There’s only a season of it, so it won’t take long to binge-watch before The Walking Dead Season 9 and you’ll have plenty of time for the other shows on this list.
