When will Modern Family return with new episodes?

After not airing last week, Modern Family will not be airing this week either. With three episodes left in the season, when should you expect the show to return?

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer for the last few episodes of season 9. Modern Family will be back with a new episode next week! In the meantime, tonight’s episode will be a rerun of an episode from earlier in the season.

Claire and Mitch put together a 10 year anniversary party for Jay and Gloria. Of course, things don’t go as planned for them. Meanwhile, Phil is looking to make up for a previous failure he had as a magician.

With just three episodes remaining I’d expect that this will be the last break before the season ends. Modern Family was renewed for two additional seasons after last season so they will definitely be returning for season 10. This season has had a few hits but has mostly just been coasting by. With all of the Dunphy kids being adults now the show has lost some of its initial spark. With that said, the most promising angle this season has been the love angle for both Haley and Alex and the show will be returning to this story before the season ends.

The next episode

On the next episode of Modern Family, Dede Pritchett (Shelley Long) is back in town. Her presence makes Mitch and Cam realize how much she affects their lives. Meanwhile, Phil, Haley, Alex and Luke each have a piece of bad news to deliver to Claire. They all know that the best time to tell her is after her monthly spa day and compete for positioning. The episode is appropriately titled “Mother!” as the mothers on the show will be the focus. As usual, the released synopsis doesn’t cover all of the characters on the show but we can expect that Gloria will have a subplot as well.

Modern Family is brand new next week at 9/8 Central on ABC.
