Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian return to the small screen in Take Two, ABC’s new action comedy from the creators of Castle.

Calling all Castle fans! Your new summer obsession has arrived in the form of another crime dramedy from the team that brought you the former ABC standby. Looking to replicate the magic touch that made Castle and Beckett so insanely watchable, Take Two doesn’t veer too far from the winning odd couple formula. But this June, we’ll be solving crimes and fighting the feels with another pair of TV vets and a revamped Hollywood twist.

From the creative team behind Castle, Take Two looks and sounds a lot like its predecessor. You know what they say: If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Rachel Bilson stars as Sam Swift, an actress who played a detective for over 200 episodes on television. When she breaks down for the world to see and lands in rehab, Sam later elbows her way into shadowing private investigator Eddie Valetik (Eddie Cibrian) to research for her comeback. It’s not the comeback she anticipated, but it’s the unlikely partnership we’ll be shipping all summer.

Watch Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian in action in Take Two’s first-look trailer below!

The first teaser for Take Two finds Rachel Bilson, who dazzled us with her breezy charm in The O.C. and Hart of Dixie, doing she does best: Finding the heart, humanity, and humor in the popular girl whose reputation has seen better days. Meanwhile, seasoned soap star Eddie Cibrian looks to provide the perfect blend of disarming reluctance to his disgruntled detective. However, you don’t need to have a badge to decipher who’s playing “good cop” and who’s playing “bad cop.”

While Take Two appears to take a few too many cues from its creators’ past hit, there’s no doubt that the writers will freshen up the buddy-cop romance procedural mold. From the mere 30 seconds of the series we have seen so far, the unofficial Castle reboot promises to be an addictive summer treat we all need, complete with witty banter and comedic cases of the week. What more could we ask for from ABC’s off-season TGIT lineup?
