Four actors who should replace Ben Affleck as Batman

A new rumor suggests Matt Reeves’s Batman will actually be a reboot and will not include Ben Affleck. With this in mind, who should fill the shoes of Gotham’s caped crusader?

Today a rumor has come to light that Matt Reeves will reboot his Batman with a new star. This has long been speculated with whispers of Ben Affleck not being happy about the direction of the DCEU. This will be sad to see given it wasn’t technically Affleck’s fault that the universe was mishandled. This being said, maybe it’s best they give the character a fresh start with an accomplished director.

Jake Gyllenhaal also seems to be out of the running considering he just joined the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel as Mysterio. So, this begs to question, who should play Batman? Here are four choices to play in the possible reboot.

#1 Armie Hammer

Many years ago, this almost became an actual thing. Armie Hammer was set to play Batman in George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal, and because of the existence of the Nolan Batman universe, the studio decided it was not ready to have two Batmans at the same time. Years later, Armie Hammer is making a ton of great films that have even earned some Oscar recognition, including his much talked about a role in Call Me By Your Name. Armie Hammer has the physique, charm, and acting credibility to play Bruce Wayne. Maybe it’s time to give the accomplished actor a second chance at bringing his version of Batman to life.

#2 Andrew Lincoln

For the longest time, I have been banging the drum for Andrew Lincoln to play Batman. His show The Walking Dead might be on the decline but it has never been due to his acting ability. Lincoln has the ability to show aggression, pain, and remorse in ways not many actors on television can match.

Now that the actor is set to leave The Walking Dead after season 9, which places him in the perfect position to step into the role of Bruce Wayne. This is the perfect match for Bruce that I personally hope Warner Brothers deeply considers moving forward.

#3 Ryan Gosling

Stay with me here. Yes, Ryan Gosling has blonde hair, and does not have the same qualities as someone who would typically be considered for Bruce Wayne. May I remind you that a lot of people complained about Daniel Craig as the first “blonde James Bond” before he gave us some of the best films in the series. It’s not about hair, it’s about who can portray the emotional complexity of a billionaire choosing to take the law into his own hands. Between his roles in outstanding films like Drive and Blade Runner 2049, the talent is absolutely there. Plus, maybe this could mean a Ryan Gosling-Emma Stone reunion with her as Poison Ivy.

#4 Kit Harrington

Game of Thrones is about to conclude its fantastic run which means Jon Snow himself should be a free agent soon. We have yet to see him get rid of the accent and attempt to play an American, but I think the potential for Kit Harrington as Bruce Wayne is not far-fetched. He has tremendous talent and his presence as Jon Snow remains one of the best aspects of Game of Thrones. If they are looking to execute a young Bruce Wayne this is not a bad choice and has possibilities.
