Here are five predictions for the second season finale of Westworld.

Note: the article is full of spoilers for the first two seasons of Westworld.

This Sunday, Westworld will conclude its much-acclaimed second season and by all indications, it’ll be a finale to remember.

At the end of the season penultimate installment “Vanishing Point,” all of the show’s major players were headed toward a part of the park called The Valley Beyond. As we now know, the Valley contains a vast collection of data on past Westworld guests called the Forge. And it’s the Delos Corporation’s intention to offer its wealthy clientele virtual immortality via human to Host consciousness transfer. However, the company’s plans were complicated by Arnold Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) launching a Host uprising in the season 1 finale. As a result, Westworld’s computer network broke down and dozens of park staffers and guests were killed.

Now, Delos officials Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) and Karl Strand (Gustaf Skarsgård) are rushing to the Valley to preserve its invaluable data. Simultaneously, Host revolutionary Delores/Wyatt (Evan Rachel Wood) is going to the same destination with the intent to weaponize the Forge. Also, William (Ed Harris), Bernard (Jeffrey Wright), and Maeve (Thandie Newton) are all headed there for different personal reasons. As such, it is likely that the big showdown in the Valley will have a massive impact on the series going forward.

Although Westworld is a show that delights in confounding its fans, I have a few ideas how things might end up in the finale. Specifically, how the events the finale will serve to set up the show’s third season.
