Bernard will take control of the park

Despite the massive changes the show’s undergone in its second season, Westworld still revolves around a theme-park called Westworld. But with the apocalyptic happenings of the show’s sophomore year, it’s hard to imagine how it will continue to serve as the series’ main setting. Even with the considerable resources, they have at their disposal, it’s hard to imagine how Delos could maintain a tourist attraction in a place that was the site of a large-scale massacre.

For the park to continue to serve as the program’s primary locale, something drastic will have to happen. Something like set up at the end of season 1. We know that much of what has happened in the show’s second season has been part of Ford’s grand design. That includes orchestrating events so that Bernard would be put on a path towards the Valley Beyond. And by ensuring Bernard is the only stable Host-human hybrid in existence, he is the key to making the Forge work properly.

My theory is that Bernard, after coming to grips with killing Elsie, will have the strength to seize control of the park. As both Westworld’s co-creator and a Host-human hybrid, uniquely suited to become the park’s new overseer. With his insight into both worlds, he could barter a truce between Delos and the rebel Hosts. Most likely, he’ll strike a deal that will involve letting the company taking the Forge data in exchange for allowing the Hosts to live in peace in a quarantine zone.

That way, the show can retain the Westworld setting in season 3 even after leaving behind the park’s original purpose.
