The Last Blockbuster documentary has a new trailer about the last standing Blockbuster store in Bend, Oregon.

Did you know that there is still a Blockbuster store left in America? You can find it in Bend, Oregon if you so wish. It’s the last of its kind and there’s a documentary on it in the works right now.

The Last Blockbuster is being crowdfunded by Popmotion Pictures. The company focuses on documentaries, short films, commercials, and music videos. They are based out of Bend, which happens to be the last place with a Blockbuster store. On the Kickstarter page, you can watch the trailer that they put together for the documentary.

When I was growing up, VHS was still a thing, but my parents were never ones to rent movies. They either bought them, watched them on TV, or we just didn’t see them at all. Once DVDs rolled around, they bought more frequently, but there were still so many movies out there that we didn’t have.

As someone who never really experienced Blockbuster the way so many others did, I find this interesting just because it was such a big deal to so many people. I had been in the store here and there, but it wasn’t a weekly routine by any means. The Last Blockbuster shows that people still like having physical objects and as someone who has a few hundred books lying around, that is something I understand. (Although, digital is a plus since it doesn’t take up any physical space.)

I hope that this documentary gets the funding it needs because the trailer looks like it’ll be a high quality production. Plus, this is a story that I think a lot of people will end up being interested in.
