10. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Original Release Date: August 13, 2010

Box Office Earnings: The movie made $47,664,559 worldwide, with a total of $31,494,270 in the U.S.

Critical Acclaim: Rotten Tomatoes certifies the movie fresh with an 82% rating. The audience score comes in at 83%, so movie-goers and critics were all on the same page for this one. While Anna Kendrick was not nominated for her role, the film won two Satellite Awards for Best Film – Comedy or Musical and Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for Michael Cera’s performance.

About the Role: Anna Kendrick plays Stacey Pilgrim, Scott’s sister. She isn’t at the forefront of the movie, but she’s the cooler, older sister who gives Scott some advice along the way.

Simply the Best: This movie came fairly early on in Kendrick’s movie career, but it was a better appearance than the ones she had in the Twilight movies prior to this. She’s a delight in the role, even if she isn’t in the movie a ton. This movie never felt like it was trying to be serious, and I think that helped people enjoy it a lot more. It’s a comic book movie that embraces what it is and allows the characters to embrace their roles in the same way.
