It looks like The Lord of the Rings TV series may be filmed in the same locations as the movies, according to the latest rumors.

Not much is known about Amazon’s adventure into Middle-Earth, but plenty of The Lord of the Rings fans want to know as much as possible. Rumors are circulating that the TV series will return to its homeland of New Zealand, and you know what, that would be perfect.

According to Omega Underground, Amazon is supposedly looking into filming the TV series in New Zealand. Both The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy were filmed in New Zealand, so if this rumor was to become true, Amazon would be getting the TV series off on the right foot. Filming in the same locations as the trilogies would give it that extra authenticity and would be hugely appreciated by the fandom.

The Lord of the Rings fandom is undeniably huge. Millions of people want this series to happen, but above all, they don’t want it ruined. Too many times have networks come in, done a half-hearted job, and presented a really poor adaptation of fan-favorite books or movies.

Amazon needs to get this right, and one thing they can do to get it right is film exactly where the movies were completed. They will certainly need to do a lot more than just that to pull off a masterpiece of a series, but a New Zealand location is certainly the way to get started.

Right now, Amazon has revealed very little information about the series and there are no plot details at all. The only detail that is known for sure is Amazon is creating a The Lord of the Rings TV series and there is a potential for spin-offs.
