NBC’s new fall drama, Manifest, won’t premiere until September 24, but you can watch the first nine minutes right now — and it’s going to hit you right in the feels:

NBC’s Manifest asks the question: what happens when you jump time and are thrown five years into the future? For a group of passengers on a flight from Jamaica to New York, this is exactly what happens.

What seemed like only a three-hour trip for passengers on Montego Air Flight 828, was actually a five-year time lapse for people on the ground. When the flight lands, the passengers realize that their family and friends had assumed them to be dead, and after mourning, had continued on with their lives.

What makes Manifest different from a common “wake up from a coma” storyline is that the people on board the flight haven’t aged at all in the five years. In terms of physical changes, five years might not seem like a big deal for adults, but five years is long enough to make a significant impact. For example, one of the characters on the plane is a young boy, and when he lands, he finds his twin sister is now a teenager.

Over the course of the pilot, the Montego Air 828 passengers will begin to realize that there’s a much bigger mystery in play, and starting their lives over five years into the future might not be as simple as they wish it to be. Manifest is an incredibly relatable, emotional story — with a splash of sci-fi — described as an “emotionally rich, unexpected journey into a world grounded in hope, heart, and destiny.”

This week, NBC threw viewers a few weeks into the future by releasing the whole first act of Manifest season 1 episode 1, and you can watch the nine minutes below!
