Who doesn’t love the maniac, Sideshow Bob? If you are a fan, then you’ll want to stick with these recaps, because I am diving into every Sideshow Bob episode (so far that is).

We are traveling to all the way back to season one and episode 12 for the first ever major appearance of Sideshow Bob (fans do get to see him in the earlier episode The Telltale Head) and the first time that Kelsey Grammer did the voice of Bob with Krusty Gets Busted.

The episode starts off with Bart and Lisa watching Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob getting launched from a cannon (the last straw?). While the kids are watching their show, Marge calls Homer and asks him to stop at the Kwik-E-Mart to pick up some ice cream. She wants ice cream because Patty and Selma are coming over to show their vacation slides.

While Homer goes to pick up the ice cream, “Krusty” is holding up the store at gunpoint. This is the start of the downfall of the TV clown.

The police then find Krusty at his apartment and take him to the station. Homer identifies him as the robber and Krusty is arrested. Krusty is found guilty at his trial and Sideshow Bob takes over the show.

So Sideshow Bob finally gets his own TV show which is packed with poetry, music, and other cultural things. Before one of the shows, the kids go to the studio to ask questions about the robbery. Before they can get any real answers, Bob tells them that his show is supposed to start soon. He then lets the kids attend his live broadcast.

Well, Sideshow Bob makes the mistake because he lets Bart onstage. Bart isn’t letting the investigation go and keeps asking questions. One question being that why was Krusty reading a magazine when it’s found out that he’s illiterate and two why was he using a microwave if he had a pacemaker?

It’s not until Sideshow Bob makes the mistake of saying he had big shoes to fill that it triggers Bart to realize that “Krusty” yelled at Homer when he stepped on his shoes, even though Krusty has small feet. So Bart accuses Bob and steps on his feet. He also removes Bob’s clown shoes to reveal his big feet.

Chief Wiggum realizes that Bart was right and goes to arrest Sideshow Bob for being the real robber.  Bob basically explains he framed Krusty because he hated being the “sidekick” and wanted to be the star. He also wanted more educational TV programming for kids.

So Krusty Gets Busted is the start of Sideshow Bob’s revenge on Bart. You can watch this episode on The Simpsons World, which is available on the FXNow app.
