While at Duff and Donuts we love the Treehouse of Horror episodes, we thought that we would look at Simpsons episodes that are just as scary.

Everyone knows that Treehouse of Horror episodes are supposed to be funny and creepy, but what about the ones that aren’t Treehouse of Horror episodes? Here are those episodes:

1. Some Enchanted Evening (Season 1, Episode 13)

Some Enchanted Evening is one of my personal favorites from season one. In the episode, Homer takes Marge out because she’s fed up with not being appreciated, but before that, the couple needs to find a babysitter for the kids. Well, they use a babysitting service and unwittingly get the notorious babysitter bandit as a sitter for their kids. So it’s up to the kids to try and stop her.

2. Bart of Darkness (Season 6, Episode 1)

Bart of Darkness is one of the best parodies of the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Rear Window. In this episode, the Simpsons get a pool, but before Bart can really enjoy it he breaks his leg. Bart finds a new hobby to stalk his neighbors with a telescope. While he’s looking around the neighborhood, he sees something fishy at the Flanders house. Bart believes that Ned has killed his wife. In this episode, there is even a cartoon version of Jimmy Stewart’s character in Rear Window!

3. The Springfield Files (Season 8, Episode 10)

The X-Files comes to The Simpsons in The Springfield Files. Homer is on his way home and sees an “alien.” Mulder and Scully come to Springfield to investigate Homer’s alien encounter. It was definitely a smart idea on Fox’s part to pair two iconic TV shows together!

4. Halloween of Horror Season 27, Episode 4)

While the episode takes place on Halloween, it’s not one of their Treehouse of Horror episodes.  In this episode Lisa becomes afraid of Halloween, so Homer has to take down Everscream Terrors. Before that Homer went to a Halloween store and got three of the employees in trouble. While Lisa and Homer are alone having a quiet Halloween, the three employees come to his house for revenge!
