AMC talked about partnering up with big companies in regards to The Walking Dead franchise moving forward by expanding its universe with more TV projects and movies.

The Walking Dead, a show that is still going forward full steam ahead as season 9 starts up next month, is being referred to in the context of a universe these days. News has spread that it will span another 10 years, according to ComicBook.com. The site expressed that the franchise “may be fulfilling its promise of being a ‘never-ending” zombie drama’.

I had feeling of this happening ever since Jesus said to Rick back when they first met in Alexandria in season 6, that there’s a bigger world out there. You could say the expansion was introduced at that moment in season 6 and thus introduced Hilltop, The Kingdom, and the Saviors’ sanctuary.

Also, don’t forget Oceanside and a few newly introduced characters that encountered Maggie and her Hilltop community associates. Georgie, played by Jayne Atkinson, gave Hilltop the blueprints to rebuild in exchange for some records.

There’s also the matter of the mysterious helicopter that’s somehow connected to the people of the landfill and is still seen teasing us via The Walking Dead season 9 promotional photo. Don’t forget the Fear The Walking Dead spin-off show where Morgan is attempting to connect the two worlds already.

Last week, Bloomberg  CEO Josh Sapan’s comment regarding The Walking Dead’s future.

"“The company, which owns the popular zombie-apocalypse series, plans to produce multiple movies and new TV shows based on the graphic novels that spawned the series, according to people familiar with the plans. AMC has talked to several large media companies about partnering on the projects, which collectively could cost several hundred million dollars.”"

That’s a pretty big penny they are calling for and perhaps they’ll think it’s worth it. A few months back, Scott Gimple gave answers to the possibility of a feature film. But it was an answer that did not confirm anything, according to a report by Cinema Blend.

"“Hmm, I mean, that kind of variety, that’swhat we’re talking about. All the differences of the ways we tell the story, yeah, what we can feature and all that. There’s a whole universe of possibilities.”"
