Homer loses his driver’s license and is forced to walk everywhere, which he manages to enjoy until he gets hit with a car. The Simpsons’ marriage becomes a little strained when the driver turns out to be Marge.

After causing an accident due to recklessness, Judge Constance Harm (Jane Kaczmarek) takes away Homer’s drivers license. As a result, Marge is forced to drive him everywhere. But when she cannot help him, Homer has no choice but to walk places. While he hates it at first, he eventually begins to enjoy to the new method of getting places. At one point Homer enjoys walking so much that he sings a song celebrating it (with a cameo by Steve Buscemi who Homer recognizes as the guy from the wood chipper in Fargo).

But all this comes to an end when Marge accidentally hits him with her car. According to Marge,  she inadvertently hit the gas when she meant to hit the brake. As a result of Homers’ injuries, Marge is now forced to do everything for him. This arrangement puts a strain of their marriage and the two begin going to marriage counseling.

As an initial exercise, the counselor has them both write a list of the most important people in their lives. When Homer’s list turns out to be nothing but his own name, Marge is understandably upset that she ranks nowhere on the list and storms out. Wanting help on making her feel better, the counselor suggests that Homer do one totally unselfish thing for Marge.

Homer’s idea is to throw a backyard barbecue for Marge with all the people of Springfield invited. He also brings along singer Jackson Browne (in another cameo) who serenades Marge with a special song. She is grateful for his gesture and forgives Homer. After the guests all have plenty to eat, Homer promptly kicks them out of the yard by turning on the sprinklers.
