Season 8

The eighth season was the point that I temporarily stopped watching. I struggled without Lucas and Peyton on the show. Okay, they’d actually left the season before, but this was the first season I really felt lost without then.

While Brucas was the ship (and I think this is when shipping started, right?) I wanted to see happen, there was still something about Lucas and Peyton that made me happy.

It was kind of clear from the premiere episode that the two were meant to be. Peyton was the girl Lucas always wanted to be with and it was their story all the way up to the seventh season.

And then we said goodbye to them. Sure, Lucas came back now and then, but it was hard not seeing Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton on my screen each week. The rest of the cast were great, but I just didn’t sense the same magic the show once had.

There were some excellent storylines. After all, Brooke had her twins and we got to see Brooke and Julian’s relationship really blossom, but it just wasn’t enough to stand up against the other seasons.

Oh, and I hated the bridge accident. That type of storyline became overused by that point.
