2. “Housetrap”

Season 5, Episode 19

Why it’s a spooky delight: Once again, this is another episode at the latter end of a season. This time, it’s the season 5 episode, “Housetrap.” Unlike the previous episodes on this list, this one is more of a mystery and has a lot of suspense to it plus some unusual characters paired together.

When Linda offers to help Teddy, the Belchers end up inside the house of a widow, Helen. After getting stuck there, Linda and Louise make up a theory about Helen killing her husband. Helen comes back, acting strangely and eventually, saves Linda from falling and it changes Linda’s mind. At the end of the episode, we learn Helen did actually murder her husband.

Once again, Bob’s Burgers goes a little darker including murder. What makes this episode especially creepy is Helen. Voiced by Kaitlin Olson, she plays the right amount of charming while still being mysterious. However, the overarching mystery and suspense, especially in the last few minutes, could be taken straight from a horror film.

While most of the creepy episodes have a funny element to it, this one doesn’t. It stands apart from others in that way. Sure, there are a few jokes but everything is suspenseful and creepy. It’s a nice change of pace for the series and a great way to throw some spookiness in there.
