On the sixth installment of Treehouse of Horror, giant advertisements run amok Springfield and Groundskeeper Willie attacks students in their dreams.

Treehouse of Horror 6 changes it up and opens with the Headless Horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow riding through the woods while holding the severed head of Krusty the Clown. With that, the credits roll and the first sketch begins.

Attack of the 50 Ft. Eyesores

Furious when the donut he wants doesn’t turn out as expected, Homer decides to steal the massive donut from the Lard Lad sign. But later during a freak electric storm the Lard Lad statue comes to life. It summons the other statues serving as advertisements and they begin walking around, while Homer is busy lounging on the massive donut and drinking a beer.

While the other advertising signs begin causing havoc all over Springfield, the Lard Lad statue arrives at the Simpsons’ front door. Homer eventually gives up the donut and the statue leaves to cause damage elsewhere.

But when the statue leaves an imprint in the grass that references its advertising agency, Lisa gets an idea that if they created the monsters they must know how to destroy them. The agency’s ad man comes up with the idea that ignoring them will help, so using a song by Paul Anka (as himself), Lisa comes up with a jingle that helps persuade the people of Springfield to not pay attention to the massive advertisements. It works and the statues all disintegrate, leaving the town in desperate need of repair.

Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace

Bart has a nightmare about Groundskeeper Willie attacking him with a rake. But after he wakes up he sees that there are actual marks where the rake scratched him. In the style of Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Willie is attacking  and killing students in their dreams. After Bart and Lisa talk to Marge, she tells them what happened to Willie. ‘

At a PTA meeting Homer turned up thermostat too high and incinerated Willie, who was in the basement at the time. While burning to death, he swears revenge and promises to get even by attacking the kids of the assembled parents while they’re sleeping.

After trying to stay awake for several days, Bart decides to go into a dream and fight Willie one on one. In the dream, Willie takes the form of a lawn mower and Bart manages to trap him in a sandbox. But he recovers and since Lisa has also fallen asleep, she cannot save Bart. Assuming the shape of giant spider mixed with a bagpipe, he prepares to destroy Bart and Lisa when Maggie appears on Willie’s back and plugs up the bagpipe’s ventilation tube with her pacifier.

This causes Willie to explode and the Simpson kids all return to the living room. But Lisa is scared that Willie might still be out there. While Willie is still alive, he ends up running after the school bus after he leaves his shotgun there.

Homer3

Patty and Selma visit and everyone tries hiding from them. Looking for somewhere to avoid them, Homer stumbles onto a fantastic place where everything is in 3D. The Simpsons are able to hear Homer, but can’t see him. But Homer accidentally causes a massive wormhole that steadily consumes the 3D area.

Desperate to get him back, Marge ask everyone from Reverend Lovejoy to Dr. Hibbert for help. but they are all unable to do anything. Professor Frink eventually explains what’s happened to Homer and Grampa puts on a deep-sea diving suit in order to save Homer.

But when Professor Frink forbids this, Bart immediately jumps in to help Homer. He finds him, but Homer is unable to jump the massive chasm caused by the wormhole and falls in.  Bart goes back to the Simpson house, but Homer lands in a dumpster in real-time Los Angeles.

With that, one of the most memorable Treehouse of Horror episodes closes with Homer making his way down a real life street.
