6. Season 10 – “The One With The Late Thanksgiving”

Narrowly missing out on a top five position, we have the one that I like to call “The One With The Heads And The Door.”

Now, you might not agree with me on this one. Because if you were to look round at other publications that have ranked the Friends Thanksgiving episodes (not that you should be going anywhere else, because Hidden Remote is amazing and the place to be), they generally rank “The One With The Late Thanksgiving” a lot lower on their lists.

Which is completely and utterly wrong. How could you rank the episode with the floating heads any lower than 6? It’s just not right.

A lot of weird and wonderful stuff goes on in this episode. Rachel and Phoebe put Emma in a baby beauty pageant. Ross gets tickets to see the Rangers game, and asks Joey to join him. The four of them are late for the Thanksgiving dinner Monica and Chandler have slaved to make…well, Monica slaved to make it. Chandler made cranberry sauce.

Monica didn’t even want to make the dinner in the first place, so she locks her friends out of the apartment when they turn up late. This turns into a hilarious scene with the foursome squeezing their heads through the tiny gap in the door one after the other to beg for forgiveness. Hence the floating heads.

Joey’s head ends up getting stuck and needs to be buttered in order to get it out. One thing leads to another, and eventually the door comes crashing down as Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Chandler try to unstuck Joey. Chandler turns, expecting to find Monica furious, only to see her hanging up the phone and not really taking in what just happened.

She just got off the phone with the adoption agency; that called to say that she and Chandler had been chosen by a women to adopt her baby.

Seriously? Why would you rank this episode any lower?
