30 greatest Thanksgiving episodes of all time

18. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Episode: Season 9, Episode 10, “The Gang Squashes Their Beefs”
What’s on the menu: Who would have thought that the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gang would celebrate Thanksgiving? Of course, it’s not without a self-indulgent agenda and a means to an end to get something they want. In that sense, conceit and deception are most definitely on the menu along with all of the usual dishes. When it comes to It’s Always Sunny, beef squashing and debt settling are on the table right next to the sweet potatoes and dinner rolls.
In the Season 9 episode “The Gang Squashes Their Beefs,” Dennis and Mac are refused service at the video store because some of their enemies are running the place. Not only can they not rent the video they wanted (ever heard of streaming?), but they can’t seem to shake the nasty feeling of their past indiscretions. Inspired by the spirit of Thanksgiving, the gang decides to have all of the people they have wronged from past and present over for a dinner of forgiveness.
Why we’re thankful for it: For 13 seasons, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been the gift that keeps on giving, the little show that could. It’s rare that a cable sitcom that debuted in 2005 would still be on 13 seasons and over 100 episodes later. But the gang’s still going strong, and in the ninth season, a very characteristic celebration of Thanksgiving gave us a new holiday tradition to be thankful for. While the status of the gang’s beefs is up for discussion, watching them try to squash them is a delicious and hilarious annual treat.
