11. Bob’s Burgers

Episode: Season 5, Episode 4, “Dawn of the Peck”

What’s on the menu: Since airing its first Thanksgiving episode in Season 3, the holiday has kind of become Bob’s Burgers’ thing. The Simpsons has Halloween, American Dad! does Christmas pretty well, and Family Guy… well, Family Guy makes Star Wars a holiday. While fans of the series definitely have their own opinion on which of the Thanksgiving episodes ranks supreme, Season 5’s “Dawn of the Peck” has been heralded as an unmissable standout.

In the episode, Bob’s feelings get hurt when Linda and the kids agree that they would rather spend Thanksgiving at the Wonder Wharf pier’s first Turk-tacular Turkey Town Festival. Because of this, Bob cancels Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday. Linda joins the turkey trot, a race in which humans run alongside turkey, but due to a mistake, they run alongside an assortment of birds that soon turn on each other thanks to a pecking order thrown into disarray. Before long, Linda becomes the alpha turkey, and Bob breaks and cooks a Thanksgiving dinner.

Why we’re thankful for it: You might not think so, but it’s pretty hard to make a classic Thanksgiving episode. It’s also pretty hard for a show to entirely corner a market for one specific holiday. Shows have done it in the past, but nowadays, it’s not on most series’ to-do lists. Bob’s Burgers whipped up the winning formula on great Thanksgiving episodes, and “Dawn of the Peck” is the outlandish animated perfection everyone needs on the side of their pumpkin pie. But no matter which Bob’s Thanksgiving you watch, it’ll be a hilarious holiday.
