1. Friends

Episode: Season 5, Episode 8, “The One with All the Thanksgivings”

What’s on the menu: It’s an inarguable fact that Friends did Thanksgiving better than everyone else. There’s a reason these 10 episodes still receive praise and mandatory marathons years after their original airings. They are classics that put Thanksgiving on the map. Seriously, did Thanksgiving episodes even exist before Friends invented it? Each season, the sitcom provided a comforting holiday occasion, and you really can’t go wrong no matter which one you watch.

But for the sake of ranking episodes, “The One with All the Thanksgivings” gives you more bang for your buck — and that’s no shade to Rachel’s trifle in Season 6. As always, Monica prepares her signature spread, but there’s a little something extra on the menu in Season 5 and that’s flashbacks. The episode rewinds back to the ’80s when Chandler brushed Monica off, but in the present day, Monica puts a turkey on her head and Chandler tells her he loves her.

Why we’re thankful for it: Friends doesn’t skimp on its holiday offerings, and there’s always room for leftovers (just don’t steal Ross’ “moist maker” sandwich). Each season serves up something slightly different whether its football, unwanted guests, family drama, or past emotional trauma, but it’s always the best time you’ll spend celebrating Thanksgiving every year. From the great Season 5 episode to everything before and after, we’re most thankful for our best TV friends.
