25. Wonder Woman (ABC)

Series run: 1975-1979 (3 seasons/59 episodes)

No, we’re not talking about the hit 2017 film, but the show that aired back in the day that many may have forgotten about.

As anyone who has knowledge of comics should know, Wonder Woman was based on the DC Comics of the same name. Ironically, the TV series that came about after a made-for-TV movie became a surprise hit. The show, created by Douglas S. Cramer and Stanley Ralph Rods, debut on ABC on Nov. 7, 1975, and critics at the time, didn’t think that the show would have staying power.

To their shock, it did.

Wonder Woman became a rating success for ABC, and the network quickly dotted on the idea that it could do merchandising based on the show. So, they teamed with Mego Corporation in 1976 and released a Wonder Woman doll line that upped the show’s ratings and credibility.

Wonder Woman wasn’t just a hit with television viewers, but it also revived the franchise as a whole. The series, though, wouldn’t last as long, as, in 1979, Wonder Woman was canceled after three seasons, and it can rarely be seen on television today. Though the television series is now a memory, for Wonder Woman fans, it is worth going back and checking out the cool TV series that revived a comic franchise.
