#8 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Directed by Quentin Tarantino

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie

Release Date: July 26th

By the time July rolls around, it will have been close to 4 years since polarizing director, Quentin Tarantino, made his last film. After exploring the deep and dark underbelly of 19th century Wyoming with his last film, Tarantino is moving to the glamorous spot of Hollywood for his next major motion picture, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In continuing his focus on QT period pieces, the Hollywood of the 1960s will be the backdrop for this one.

QT has recruited a massive line-up to star in his film, chief among them Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie to tell a story of a group of Hollywood mainstays aiming to make it bigger in Hollywood, all running parallel with the gruesome Manson family murders in the 60s. Much like Inglorious Basterds, this film will take aim at a specific event in history. Whether it ends with a bloody shootout that happens to kill the Manson family will remain to be seen (don’t be surprised if this is indeed a reality).

Tarantino has long been known for his talkative and mile-a-minute sccreenplays and direction, constantly taking influence or even just plain ripping off other films QT loves. The man himself admits it, but that has not warmed him to everyone, with some critics feeling as if his arrogance blinds him from creating a clever story. But there’s no doubt that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will get and keep people talking with its touchy subject matter. It could go either way, but QT’s latest should have no issue peaking viewers’ curiosities.
