The Big Bang Theory: 5 Best moments from The Confirmation Polarization
By John Dotson
4. Penny comes clean to Bernadette
In the next scene, Bernadette calls Penny back in her office and Penny automatically feels the tonal shift in the room. Bernadette requests her to come in and shut the door and she does so reluctantly. Bernadette then reveals to her that she talked to Penny’s supervisor and she knows that it was all a lie about her being shorthanded.
Bernadette feeling hurt asks why Penny doesn’t want to work for her. Penny explains that it’s not a personal thing with Bernadette but the fact she feels inadequate being in charge of people more educated than her. She also cites how she was the reason her high school didn’t have a yearbook the semester she was in charge. In the end, though, Bernadette manages to convince Penny to take the job and she finds herself more confident than she expected.
5. Sheldon refuses to sell out
The episode wrapped with Sheldon pursuing action against the two scientists over who should get sole credit for the discovery of asymmetry theory. Even though Amy says she is willing to see her name removed for Sheldon to have his chance for a Nobel Prize, he refuses to sell out his wife for his dream.
He walks into his supervisor’s office at CalTech thinking he is going to have a fight on his hands to keep Amy from being removed but to his surprise, it goes way smoother than expected. The CalTech administrator explains to Sheldon that his job is to fight for what he wants. So, the next episodes will see them pursue action to keep Amy on the Nobel prize.
Final thoughts
It was nice to get see some momentum with Sheldon’s character in regards to his journey towards being a famous physicist. As I said previously before the show went on winter break, it seems like Sheldon’s journey is about his evolution into becoming a selfless humble man and his asymmetry project is just an extended metaphor of that transformation.
When the show started years ago, he probably would’ve sold someone out to pursue his dream. Now, the character has more humility than ever and would not do that to someone he loves.
What do you think though? Did you enjoy the episode? Were you happy to see Sheldon fight for Amy? Tell us in the comments below!
