4. Erg confronts his blind spot with humans

This episode also highlighted the reasons why Erg lacks the capacity to trust humans. At the start of the show, we’re introduced to a flashback involving Erg and a woman he once loved. In the scene, she has returned from somewhere but he discovers that this woman has betrayed him to Sentinel Services. This woman also happens to be a human and not a mutant.

Cut to present day when Glow has been shot. As previously stated, Clarice is forced to go get help from the Mutant Underground because she cannot take Glow to a hospital. So she enlists the help of Kate Strucker to get her the treatment she needs.

Once she brings Kate to the Morlocks this causes an argument by Erg because his previous experience with humans has left him to distrust them all. Clarice pushes back that he either deals with it or Glow will be forced to die.

After a few scenes of Erg and Kate having a friendly confrontation, his prejudice begins to breakdown. In the end, Kate saves Glow and Erg begins to understand that some humans are inherently good people.

As she leaves, he offers to give Kate something as an apology. He bends down to get ash on his finger and touches Kate’s cheek to place an honorary Morlock symbol on her cheek. It’s a very endearing moment in the show.

5. Marcos gets hurt

Before the show reached its conclusion, Lorna and Marcos were secretly conspiring to take Max back to the Mutant Underground as a prisoner. Lorna starts following his daily routines to give Marcos the intel on where to find him and discovers he goes to a liquor store almost every night. Once she sends Marcos the information he plans a method of attack and it’s not well thought out at all.

Thus begins a cliffhanger that involves Max coming out of a liquor store and entering his car. Before he can start the vehicle, Marcos appears behind him in the back seat holding his glowing hand to his head like a gun. The next shot is them fighting and the scene cuts to outside with flashes going inside the car. It goes quiet and the car is on fire. Marcos exits the vehicle holding his abdomen bleeding and as he walks away the car explodes with Max inside.

Now, this is great news that Max is no longer a threat but why on Earth would Marcos go alone? Why not take John or anyone for backup? Let’s hope Marcos survives this.

Final thoughts

For this being so close to the season finale, it seems like not much is paying off. The entire show has been building to a fight between both groups but nothing seems to be going anywhere with that conflict. Also, where in the world are Reeva Paige and Jace?

Don’t get me wrong, some interesting things happened this episode but not much is being paid off. Chekhov’s gun is begging to go off. It’s time to pull the trigger and I’m concerned they don’t have enough time left hit their mark.
