New Amsterdam is keeping its doors open for another year. NBC has renewed the hospital dramedy for Season 2.

New Amsterdam has officially been renewed by NBC for a second season, marking the first freshman renewal for the network. The news isn’t surprising but it is welcoming, as networks start to decide the fates of their shows.

NBC has seen success with two of its freshman shows in fall 2018. Both New Amsterdam and Manifest impressed with their pilots and have remained steady in their timeslots, often proving to be the most-watched show on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Throughout the year, it’s held at between 5.5m and 6.5m views and 1.0 to 1.2 in the demo, according to TV Series Finale.

More from NBC

On average, the series sits fourth out of all NBC shows, ahead of the likes of Chicago MedChicago PD, and Law & Order: SVU. The only fall shows ahead of it are This Is UsManifest, and Chicago Fire.

Now all eyes are on Manifest, which should receive a renewal based on the live viewing figures. All eyes will be on how the next three episodes go, as the show wraps up its first season.

Of course, for New Amsterdam, eyes will be on how the first season wraps up. There was a scare that Ryan Eggold’s character, Max, would be killed off a couple of weeks ago. However, the doctors rallied around and Max made a recovery. Now it’s all about Dr. Bloom, whose addiction to Adderal has come out.

The renewal/cancellation scorecard has been updated to reflect New Amsterdam Season 2.
