5. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The first movie to make the list was released in 2005 and that’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Unsurprisingly, this movie doesn’t get the love it deserves but fellow 00’s kids will agree that it’s a gem. Based on the popular book series, the movie follows four friends: Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena who find a “magical” pair of jeans that fit all of them.

As you can tell by the trailer, these four are all built differently and they decided to mail the jeans to each other. What makes the film so special is the friendship between the girls. Even though we watch them have their own adventures, they still come together in the end. It’s also a coming-of-age story as each girl deals with something new such as romance, family changes or grief.

If you’ve already watched or watch the first film and like it, you should check out the second one: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. It follows the same characters as they go their separate way but stay connected by the pants. Their friendship is at the core of both films and it makes for an enjoyable watch.

One thing that stands out is that the four actresses are friends in real life. Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel still talk, hang out, and have posted pictures together. If that doesn’t show you the magic of the pants and these films, nothing else will. Sadly, this film is one you’ll have to either watch on Youtube or Itunes as it’s not available on Hulu or Netflix.
