From Bridesmaids to Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy always brings the heat. But what are her 10 best movies?

When most people first met Melissa McCarthy, she was playing Sookie St. James, the clumsy but wise sidekick to Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. Following her time on the acclaimed dramedy, McCarthy turned in unforgettable supporting roles in romantic comedies like The Back-Up Plan and Life As We Know It. But a glorious thing happened when a little movie called Bridesmaids turned a once scene-stealing supporting player into an Oscar-nominated movie star.

With a funny bone as finely tuned as Melissa McCarthy’s, it was all but predestined that she would ultimately breakthrough the background and steal the spotlight. Ever since stepping into leading roles, McCarthy has stolen Jason Bateman’s identity in Identity Thief, solved crimes with Sandra Bullock in The Heat, saved Jude Law’s life in Spy, and broken a few laws with Susan Sarandon in Tammy.

She’s hunted ghosts in Ghostbusters, gone to jail for insider trading in The Boss, and even followed her daughter to college in Life of the Party. All in all, McCarthy has lived a full life in comedy, and she’s just getting started. Most recently, she’s starred in The Happytime Murders and earned her second Academy Award nomination for Can You Ever Forgive Me?, proving yet again that, yes, she can do it all.

Which blockbusters made the cut and which timeless classic took the top spot? Here’s our celebration of McCarthy’s best films and performances of all time!
