The top 10 movies of one of the greatest actors of all time, Academy Award nominee who talks in a wide range of mumbles, Tom Hardy

The son of an artist and a novelist/screenwriter, Tom Hardy seemed tailor made for a life in the arts. Raised in East Sheen, London, he didn’t start acting until he was in his 20s but he always seemed interested in the work. He attended the Richmond Drama School and the Drama Centre London, where he studied alongside fellow actor Michael Fassbender. We got to keep tabs on that school for the future.

His career didn’t take off until he won The Big Breakfast’s Find Me a Supermodel competition at age 21 and got a brief contract with the Models One agency. Though he didn’t model much, it got him started and at the age of 24, he got his first movie role in the 2001 film, Black Hawk Down (which I had no idea he was in until about a week ago). He became favored for playing villains or gruff characters, something he had some experience in thanks to his teenage years as a young delinquent.

He described his younger self as disobedient, ready to do anything naughty and fully equip in all forms of self-hatred. Throughout his teens and early-20s, he battled alcoholism and a drug addiction, but he sought help after his role on Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002 and went to rehab. He’s been sober ever since.

Once this low point passed, he traveled up the food chain, conquering every role that came his way, in film, television and theatre production. In 2003 he was awarded the Evening Standard Most Promising Newcomer Award for “In Arabia, We’d All Be Kings” and “Blood”. He even created his own underground theatre company called Shotgun, along with director Robert Delamere, and directed a play written by his father, called “Blue on Blue”.

The man who could very well be this generation’s Marlon Brando, with the sex appeal, vulnerability, and mumble voice to prove it, Hardy is only just starting his domination of Hollywood. Half of his performances belong in a Hall of Fame. And here are just a few. These are the top 10 movies of Tom Hardy.

Unfortunately, this is a movie list so that means no Taboo, no Band of Brothers and no Peaky Blinders, sorry.
