Will & Grace welcomes back Matt Bomer for a second chance at love with Will, while Grace fights a hawk and Molly Shannon to win the election.

Imagine a world where someone wouldn’t want to date Matt Bomer. Well, in the latest Will & Grace, the arrogant anchorman otherwise known as McCoy Whitman returns to romance Will, and our guy isn’t so receptive to McCoy’s eager charms. But some key advice from Jack, of all people, just might put those two back on track for a date to Jack’s wedding, whether Jack likes it or not.

Meanwhile, the race is on for Grace and her presidential election for the interior designers guild, but she’ll have to clear a few more sizable hurdles before she can lead the people who tell other people which wallpaper to pick, to paraphrase Karen. Can Grace sweet talk Molly Shannon’s Val, her longtime nemesis, into voting for her without reigniting the feud? Let’s recap the latest episode of Will & Grace with the gang’s five sickest burns!

1. “Once again, I find myself begging gay men to love me.”

More from NBC

It’s crunch time for Grace’s presidential campaign for the interior designers guild, which means she has to shake hands and make phone calls to secure votes. But when Val scares the living daylights out of her in the elevator, she learns that Val (guest star Molly Shannon), through a series of ironic circumstances, is a voting member of the guild. Suddenly, Grace has to win over her worst enemy to win the presidency. Enter Karen and her messy moral compass.

2. “No one’s rubbing anything in your face, which is why you’re at the singles table.”

When it comes to the seating chart for his wedding, Jack takes great delight in throwing Will’s single status in his face. But Will & Grace has been clumsily hinting at this awkward tension between Will and Jack, and it really needs to make up its mind. Nevertheless, Will finds himself dating arrogant anchorman McCoy Whitman (guest star Matt Bomer) thanks to a stubborn hawk taking shelter on Will’s building. Cue Jack’s misplaced jealousy.

3. “You hit me with a snowglobe. That’s friendship!”

Since Grace decides to run a dirty campaign and instructs Karen to secure Val’s vote by any means necessary, things naturally begin to fall apart. Val drops in to show off a new dress and the other goodies Karen bought her in exchange for her vote.

But her true purpose reveals itself when she lures Grace to the terrace and locks her out there to sabotage the election. While trying to waddle her way to freedom on the edge of the building, Grace sits on the hawk’s eggs and faces an attack from the protective mama bird. Karma bites back.

4. “At least you don’t know what Kevin Bacon’s garbage smells like.”

Even though Jack’s being weird, McCoy’s being even weirder. He comes on way too strong after he and Will’s first date, sending flowers and presents the morning after their romp in the sheets and dropping a premature “I love you.” Believe it or not, Jack talks McCoy into asking Will for a second chance after he dumps him.

And that Kevin Bacon reference? A pleasant deep cut for longtime fans.

5. “Honey, they knew you were corrupt and they voted for you anyway.”

Somehow, Grace wins the election despite Val’s attempts to drive her campaign into the ground and Grace’s own missteps. With twigs in her hair and a crack in her ego, Grace can’t enjoy her win, though Karen offers a glass-half-empty consolation that’s all too real.

On the other hand, Will enjoys a second second chance with McCoy, who vows to take their relationship slow. It’s natural character development on Will’s part to see this relationship through in spite of the red flags in the beginning. There’s clearly something there, and it could work with a little communication. Now if Will & Grace could communicate what’s going on with Will and Jack…
