Who’s the shooter?

Furious that his partner was shot and out for blood to find the shooter, Harvey barges back into Penguin’s lair and starts making accusations to the host of the discussion and Barbara, who also happened to be there. Oswald points out that the window was broken by a sniper’s shot through the window from outside the room, clearing everyone at the meeting.

With a little forensic detective work, Harvey eventually determines that the bullet was from Victor Zsasz’s gun. Luckily for Harvey, he appears in front of the station announcing that he’s looking for him.

But Zsasz tells Harvey that the decision to kill Gordon was not his and that he’s just a hired gun. Harvey eventually determines that Zsasz is under Ivy’s spell and that she is the one behind the whole plot.

She eventually liberates her Zsasz puppet from the GCPD lockup, telling him the rest of her plan is going according to plan. Zsasz, now set loose in the precinct, causes a distraction to let Ivy have her shot at finishing Gordon off.

Where did Ivy come from?

As Jim is fighting for his life in the Gotham PD precinct, Bruce invites Selina to dinner at some abandoned mansion he appears to have restored, but unfortunately, they are not alone. Bruce confesses to Selina that he feels that he needs to leave Gotham because of all the terrible things that he brought to the city, while Selina implores him to stay. However, they are interrupted by – you guessed it – Ivy who was skulking in the shadows.

Ivy tells Bruce that he needs to come with her and uses her pheromones to put Bruce under her spell, just like she did with Zsasz. Ivy also reveals to Selina that she was the cause behind her miraculous recovery earlier in the season before leaving her to fight a goon that she dragged up from one of the street gangs and manipulated with her Love Dust.

Ivy instructs Bruce meets up with Lucius, who is still trying to detoxify the river at one of the Wayne Corporation plants. Bruce manages to convince Fox to shut down his endeavor using some of Ivy’s perfume pheromones. Hypnotized as well, Lucius begins the process to dump the remaining toxins into the river.

Eventually, Selina manages to take down the love-struck goon and convince (with force) him to tell where Ivy sent Bruce. She encounters the young Wayne still entranced and has to fight her friend zoned fiend. Luckily, she’s able to knock some sense back into Bruce and Lucius, literally, and Bruce stops the plant shutdown in the nick of time.

Back at the GCPD, as the police try to deal with Zsasz, Ivy and Lee battle over Jim’s dead body. Lee is trying to use a shot of adrenaline to save Gordon, but Ivy is happy to let Jim stay dead.

Ivy monologues that she intends to use Gordon’s death to prevent further destruction of her precious plants. By ensuring that Gotham never reunifies with the mainland, the people will eventually die and allow her to regrow her garden in peace. Lee manages to shoot Ivy, but Ivy destroys the last of the adrenaline needed to save Jim before escaping.=

However, Lee manages to save Jim’s life just as he is about to be executed in the hallucination. Jim tells her tearfully that he can’t do this without her, then whispers something we can’t hear into her ear.

The episode ends with a flash forward to a month later, where Jim Gordon and Lee Tompkins are getting married. Harvey is performing the ceremony, with some very moving speeches to the pair. The couple seems quite happy, as do Bruce and Selina who share a kiss.

Unhappy, however, is Barbara, who it’s revealed still wants Jim to believe that she can be a good mother to his child. Oswald warns her that Jim will never let her be that mother, but Babs says, with ferocity, that he’s not getting in her way?
